Bogor City Will Not Implement Odd Even Rules Until Next Weekend

JAKARTA - The Bogor City Police have decided that they will not apply odd-even vehicle number plates until next weekend, but instead they will be replaced by a situational crowd-free road (CFR) system as it is today.

"For the time being there is none, it has been replaced with CFR. It is enforced considering the situation," said Bogor Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Pol. Susatyo Purnomo Condro when confirmed by ANTARA, Sunday, March 13.

Susatyo explained that the imposition of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) level 2 for Bogor City indicated that the spread of COVID-19 had returned to being well controlled.

Traffic rules also follow the situation so that community mobility begins to loosen again. That way, people's activities can be excited again, especially in the economic sector.

"We from the police will enforce traffic rules according to the existing conditions and needed," he said.

In two days this weekend, he said, the traffic density at the beginning of PPKM level 2 was monitored smoothly and did not cause long traffic jams, so crowding and could potentially become a place for the spread of COVID-19 was not visible.

Until Sunday (13/3) night, traffic jams in Bogor City can be anticipated so that CFR will not be implemented significantly.

Bogor City Police Traffic Unit personnel have been alerted at points prone to traffic jams, such as the busy center of Suryakencana street which is famous for culinary tours, and Sudirman Street.

Officers are prepared if there is a crowd or a buildup of vehicles to disperse in order to smooth the lane.

Traffic engineering in the form of lane closure by diverting vehicles to the road was immediately implemented if such a situation occurred.

Susatyo hopes that the busy, smooth situation without traffic jams will continue until next week, which means that Bogor City is safely under control at PPKM level 2, without an urgent situation for applying odd-even vehicle number plates.
