The Sahroni-Airin Duet For The 2024 Gubernatorial Election Rises, PKS Doesn't Want To Lose: We Prepare The Best Cadres

JAKARTA - The news of the "matchmaking" between the General Treasurer of Nasdem, Ahmad Sahroni, and the Chairman of the Golkar, Airin Rachmy Diany, to run for the Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI elections in 2024 has surfaced.

The signal for a duet between Sahroni and Airin emerged after Golkar visited the NasDem Office on Thursday, March 11.

In response to this, PKS does not seem to want to lose. The chairman of the PKS faction of the DKI Regional House of Representatives, Achmad Yani, said that PKS was also combing through potential cadres to take part in the 2024 Pilkada contestation in Jakarta.

"We are preparing the best PKS cadres in Jakarta to advance in the Jakarta gubernatorial election by strengthening capacities and characterizations", Yani said when contacted, Friday, March 11.

Yani explained, PKS will carry cadres with the criteria of having high integrity, never being involved in cases of corruption, immorality, or other criminal acts.

In addition, the cadres who will be championed in the DKI Gubernatorial Election are people who are intelligent, competent, have high leadership, are firm without being emotional, populist, and can realize progress, welfare, and social justice for the people of Jakarta.

If elected, the candidate for DKI Governor of DKI Jakarta will continue Anies Baswedan's ongoing programs, both in terms of city planning, public transportation, education, health, and flood management.

"Of course, the things that are still lacking will be the focus of the candidate program carried by PKS, such as improving public services, especially public administration services, the performance of local government officials to the village level, as well as a faster response to problems experienced by the community", Yani explained.

Previously, the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, signaled that his party would form a coalition in the upcoming 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada with a plan to "match" Ahmad Sahroni with Airin Rachmi Diany, the former mayor of South Tangerang.

During the meeting of the two parties at the NasDem Tower, Thursday, March 10, Airin was present in the elite Golkar group who accompanied Airlangga. Likewise, Sahroni also attended the meeting accompanying Paloh. When holding a press conference, Airlangga had mentioned the two names.

"In addition, we saw that Mrs. Airin and Mr. Sahroni were also present here. Where is it? So we know that the discussion is not only about macro, but also micro-details", said Airlangga.

However, Airlangga still closed the meeting whether he meant pairing Airin with Sahroni in the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election. He said there would be time for Airin and Sahroni to talk directly.

"So if Mr. Sahroni and Mrs. Airin, we invite Mr. Sahroni and Mrs. Airin to speak first at the time, not at noon today", he said.
