JAKARTA - The Chief of Staff of the Navy (KSAL) Admiral Yudo Margono asked the public to immediately report to his side if there is waste pollution on the beach so that law enforcement is immediately carried out.

"If found, of course, strict action will be taken and we are very able to catch the perpetrators of waste pollution on the beach," he said, in Bandarlampung, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, March 9.

However, he continued, in order to prevent the act of polluting waste on the beach, of course, the participation of the community is needed to immediately inform because the Indonesian Navy cannot reach all areas.

Then, he said, if the perpetrators of pollution have been arrested, they will be handed over to the competent investigator team, in this case, the police and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK).

"For maritime security patrols in the Lampung area, it is the duty and responsibility of Lanal Lampung so that things that have the potential to harm the community can be carried out by law enforcement," he said.

Previously, the people of Panjang Selatan Village, Bandarlampung City, were disturbed by the presence of waste suspected of being an oil spill on the coast because it caused social, economic and environmental losses.

"For the past four days, the waste has polluted the beach. It is possible that the waste came from the middle of the sea, and the waves carried it to the shore," said the Head of the Neighborhood Association (RT) 09 Pantai Panjang, Imam Suhari.

He hopes the relevant agencies can overcome this pollution, especially since the waste in the form of oil is in direct contact with residents' settlements.

"There must be a quick action from the government, this causes the fish to get high to death so that the residents are obviously worried," he said.
