JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirms that the investigation into the alleged corruption in the administration of the Special Allocation Fund (DAK) for Central Lampung Regency continues. Anyone involved will be named a suspect.

"Until now, the investigation is still ongoing," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, in a written statement quoted on Tuesday, March 1.

Ali said investigators were looking for sufficient preliminary evidence before arresting the perpetrators. In addition, the KPK is also investigating other related parties from the results of the trial of former Deputy Chairman of the DPR RI Azis Syamsuddin, who has now been sentenced to 3.5 years in prison.

It is known that Azis was proven to have bribed former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju and an advocate named Maskur Husein to secure him and Aliza Gunado in the alleged corruption of the Central Lampung DAK which is being investigated.

"Of course, if it is later found that there was a criminal act of corruption and there is sufficient preliminary evidence, we will make sure that anyone who can be legally accounted for will be named a suspect," he said.

Meanwhile, for the bribery case handling the case that ensnared Azis Syamsuddin, he continued, KPK investigators would conduct an analysis of the legal facts that existed at the trial. This is done to ensnare anyone involved.

"As for the alleged involvement of other parties in the case of convict M. Azis syamsuddin, we will fully study and analyze whether there are legal facts in the consideration that can be developed further," Ali explained.

As previously reported, Azis Syamsuddin was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison and a fine of IDR 250 million, subsidiary to four months in prison. In addition, Azis' political rights were also revoked for four years from the time he finished serving his prison term.

He was proven to have given bribes worth IDR 3,099 billion and USD 36,000, bringing the total to around IDR 3,619 billion, to former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju and advocate Maskur Husain. The goal is to take care of the case involving him and Aliza Gunado in Central Lampung.

The verdict is lower than the demands of the KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) who requested that Azis be sentenced to four years and two months in prison, plus a fine of IDR 250 million subsidiary to six months in prison.
