SERANG - A perpetrator, R was arrested by the police. He was arrested on suspicion of making illegal levies to traders in the Old Market, Serang City.

Serang City Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Adjutant of Police Maruli Ahiles Hutapea confirmed the incident. The incident occurred on Friday, February 25, evening.

Maruli explained, the perpetrators made extortion to every trader in the Old Market area, Serang City for IDR 2 thousand. The reason is for the area's security money.

“The complaints of traders at the Old Market in Serang City for illegal levies. The reason is that each trader is asked for security money of IDR 2,000 with a total daily income of around IDR 200 thousand from illegal levies,” he explained.

With the report, the police followed up and immediately arrested the perpetrator. As a result, R found some money in the amount of IDR 264,000 which was allegedly the result of extortion from traders.

"The evidence that was secured from the initials R, money from illegal levies amounted to IDR 264 thousand," he said.

Now the perpetrator is at the Serang City Police. To be investigated by the police. "(So) there is still 1 x 24 hours, we will investigate it first, so the status is still a witness," he said.

However, the article imposed on the perpetrator's actions is Article 368 of the Criminal Code with a maximum threat of 9 years in prison.
