Sevmash Shipyard is carrying out repairs and upgrades of the Project 11442M cruiser at its shipyard. Large-scale internal work was launched on board the warship: specialists installing equipment, systems, and assemblies, painting and insulating premises, designated press offices.

Shipbuilding Specialists will load onto cruisers and install over 5.000 items of equipment, as well as over a million different items. Approximately 200 km of pipelines and 1.800 km of cable will be installed on the flagship of the future Fleet.

All electrical installation work is being carried out by specialists of the Arktika company. The designer of the project, the Severnoye Design Bureau, has created a 3D model of the warship to work on the documentation, he said.

Sevmash CEO Mikhail Budnichenko said work on upgrading the Project 11442M (code name: Orlan) Admiral Nakhimov heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser was progressing on schedule. The Shipyard's chief executive said the warship would be delivered to the Russian Navy in 2022.

To note, the heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser Admiral Nakhimov has been repaired at the Sevmash Shipyard since 1999. The real work on the warship has been carried out since 2013.

The upgrade has substantially increased the cruiser's attack capabilities. In particular, the warship will carry 10 multipurpose ship launchers for eight Kalibr-NK or Oniks cruise missiles. And, Admiral Nakhimov is capable of carrying Tsirkon hypersonic missiles.
