KPK Ensures Professional Handling Of Alleged Corruption In Muara Enim

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) insists that no party will be deliberately punished even though it is not proven to have committed a corruption crime. All case investigations are ensured to run in a professional and accountable manner.

This assertion was conveyed by the Acting Spokesperson for the KPK for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, responding to dozens of employees who resigned as commitment-making officials (PPK) and supervisors at the Muara Enim Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Service.

They resigned for fear of being arrested by the KPK or detained by the Kejari, such as former Regent Ahmad Yani to a number of other officials in Muara Enim for being involved in the bribery case of the project and the approval of the APBD.

"We ensure that the handling of corruption by the KPK is carried out in a professional and accountable manner," Ali said in a written statement quoted on Friday, February 25.

"KPK will not abuse of power by taking action against parties who are not involved in a case," he added.

Ali ensures that this kind of resignation will not affect anything. Anyone involved in the alleged corruption, will be dealt with.

"KPK will continue to take action, if indeed the parties are suspected of being involved in accordance with the evidence or legal facts. Whatever their current employment status," he said.

After all, local government officials should make improvements rather than rushing to do the self-lockdown. The trick is to improve governance as a whole, including personnel management, so that similar incidents do not happen again.

"Integrity and commitment to improvement must be consistently applied in every implementation of ASN duties as public servants. Because eradicating corruption is not the responsibility of each individual, but our shared responsibility," said Ali.

For information, the KPK has now ensnared 25 members of the Muara Enim DPRD regarding the alleged receipt of bribes related to the procurement of goods and services as well as the ratification of the 2019 APBD.

Most recently, the KPK detained 15 members of the Muara Enim Regency DPRD for the 2014-2019 and 2019-2024 periods. This detention was carried out after they were determined to be suspects.

The dozens of people detained were Agus Firmansyah, Ahmad Fauzi, Mardalena Samudera Kelana, and Verra Erika who were members of the Muara Enim Regency DPRD for the 2019-2024 period.

Furthermore, the KPK also named members of the Muara Enim Regency DPRD for the 2014-2019 period as suspects, namely Daraini, Eksa Hariawan, Elison, Faisal Anwar, Hendly, Irul, Misran, Tjik Melan, Umam Pajri, Willian Husin.

In this case, the suspects are suspected of receiving aspiration money or hammer-beating money. This gift was made by Robi Okta Fahlevi who is a contractor who often works on projects at the PUPR Office of Muara Enim Regency.

The money given by Robi Okta to DPRD members is thought to have reached IDR 5.6 billion. The receipts were carried out in stages by the suspects and are suspected to be used to finance the implementation of legislative elections in the coming period.

In addition, Robi also gave money to former Muara Enim Regent Ahmad Yani in the amount of IDR 1.8 billion and former Deputy Regent of Muara Enim IDR 2.8 billion.

The award is made so that he gets a project in which an agreement has been made to provide a 10 percent fee. The contract value he got from the project reached IDR 129 billion.
