Australia Lost Star Players Against The Indonesian National Team In The 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

JAKARTA - The Australian National Team received unpleasant news ahead of the 2026 World Cup Qualification continued match. The defender who became the mainstay, Harry Souttar, is rumored to be absent for a long time, including against the Indonesian National Team.

Souttar's absence in the remaining 2026 World Cup Qualification matches was due to his non-principal condition. He was even known to have to be sidelined for 12 months due to an injury tendon achiles injury.

"Socceroos' hero, Harry Souttar, will be out for 12 months due to a heartbreaking injury," wrote Australian media, 7 News, reporting on Souttar's condition, quoted on Monday, December 30, 2024.

Currently Souttar is defending Sheffield United. However, while fighting Burnley in Boxing Day Championship (the second level of the English league), the player was seriously injured.

In the match which took place at Bramall Lane Stadium, Sheffield, on Thursday, December 26, 2024, Souttar could actually finish the match well. However, when the match ended, he was reportedly injured.

The situation was reported by Sheffield United coach, Chris Wilder, after the match against West Brom on Sunday, December 29, 2024, WIB night.

"He (Harry Souttar) is completely devastated. Very sad for him, he is happy to be here".

"It's very disappointing to lose this great player because he's been playing amazingly," said Wilder.

This unfavorable Soouttar situation is clearly a major blow to the Australian National Team ahead of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers match against Indonesia in Sydney in March 2025.

In the 2026 World Cup Qualification, Australia, which is a member of Group C, is now in second place in the standings.

The Socceroos are nine points behind leaders, Japan, and one point ahead of Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and China.
