President Zelensky Orders Increased Funding For Procurement Of Ukrainian Drones

JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday he had issued an order to increase funding to equip the country's brigade with new drones.

Speaking in a late-night video address, President Zelensky said he had received reports from Pavlo Palisa, a former military commander and deputy chief of staff of the newly appointed president, to provide additional funding for drones.

"We recently approved a decision on the amount of the direct fund. However, now I see that the amount is insufficient," President Zelensky said.

"I instruct the prime minister to increase funding for brigades in the coming days, to increase several times," President Zelensky said.

It is known that the Russia-Ukraine war that broke out in 2022 became a modern war with both sides relying on drones. Not only to spy, drones are also used to carry out direct attacks to suicide drones. This war also spurs the development of drone technology to anti-drone.

President Zelensky has increasingly focused on deploying drones in the war, which has been going on for 33 months since Russia invaded in February 2022.

In October, President Zelensky said Ukraine had made a contract to produce 1.5 million drones this year and was able to increase production by up to four million per year.

It is known that drone production was barely present in Ukraine before the Russian invasion in February 2022.
