Hamilton And Russell Enjoy Training Sessions At GP Las Vegas
JAKARTA - Two Mercedes racers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell said they enjoyed the first session or free practice for the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Although the first free practice session was shortened due to problems on the circuit, the riders were given the opportunity to extend their training time in the second training session with 90 minutes.
"We're driving at a very high speed out there," Hamilton was quoted as saying by ANTARA from the official website of Formula 1, Saturday, November 18.
Hamilton ended the session at P9. He described that the Las Vegas GP training session was very fun.
This is very fast and very fun. I had a lot of fun today. I'm very happy we can accelerate again. The team did a great job of improving (performance) and this is an interesting session," said the seven-time world champion.
Looking at the rest of this weekend, he thinks the race in the Las Vegas Strip will be interesting and different. According to him, technical preparation, especially in terms of tires, will be the key to the best performance in qualifying sessions.
I am very happy. Everyone is struggling with their challenges and I feel very good. I feel great and ready to compete again! " said Hamilton.
Meanwhile, for Russell, who finished the training session by finishing P12, assessed that the circuit had a very high speed, so it was quite demanding the reliability of the riders in order to conquer the 6.2 km long track.
"It's a very fast circuit, probably having the highest speed (over the year), and of course racing at night is quite spectacular. I think it's going to be an interesting weekend race," Russell said.

Regarding how long it will take to reach the ideal speed to win the highest podium in Vegas, the Briton said he continued to study track characteristics.
Every time we do a round, we learn. We all go faster, the track is getting faster, the braking point will definitely change. It was very difficult when we drove at high speed in the braking zone, choosing a braking point with a very small force down on the car. It feels really good out there, "explained Russell.
Meanwhile, today's Las Vegas GP will be filled with a third free practice session, and the qualifying session will resume on Saturday midnight local time.
