Female Visitors Smuggle Methamphetamine In Cumi To Serang Prison

SERANG - Officers of the Class IIA Women's Correctional Institution (Lapas) Tangerang thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs that allegedly belonged to a female visitor when she was about to make a visit to the prison.

"We found five packages of suspected methamphetamine hidden in squid stir food," said Tangerang Prison Security Unit Head Yuliana in a written statement quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, November 16.

It is known that the visitor had the initials SU who wanted to visit one of the Correctional Inmates with the initials NS.

Yuliana said the incident began when visitors registered for a visit at 10.30 WIB. After that, visitors carried out a number of examinations according to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the visit.

"The suspicious object was covered in black isolation and tucked into the squid tumis," he said.

Upon this discovery, immediately reported it to the Head of the Class IIA Tangerang Women's Prison (Kalapas), Prihartati.

Meanwhile, Head of LPP Prihartati emphasized the importance of all correctional officers to understand and implement 3+1 of the Keys to Advanced Correctional and Back to Basics according to the direction of the Director General of Corrections.

"This is a form of wrong implementation of the direction of the Director General of Corrections 3+1 key for Corrections, namely carrying out early detection of security and order disturbances, playing an active role in eradicating drugs, as well as building synergies with Law Enforcement Officials plus Back to Basics, which means restoring the duties and functions of Corrections in accordance with applicable regulations and SOPs," he said.

Furthermore, Kalapas immediately contacted the Tangerang City Resort Police (Polres) to follow up on the incident.
