2023 U-17 World Cup Results: Argentina Beat Japan 3-1
JAKARTA Argentina beat Japan 3-1 in the second match of Group D of the 2023 U-17 World Cup at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung, Tuesday, November 14 evening WIB.
La Albiceleste's first two goals were scored when the game was not even ten minutes away. Claudio Echiverri scored the first goal, while Valentino Acuna scored the second goal.
Echiverri put his team ahead with a measured free-kick in the fifth minute. Three minutes later it was Acuna's turn to poke the ball from Santiago Lopez's pass.
Meanwhile, one return goal made by Japan occurred five minutes after the two teams went down. The goal was created by Rento Takaoka using a pass from Shotaro Shibata.
Argentina then increased their advantage in extra time in the second half. The goal was engraved by Agustin Roberto using Dylan Gorosito's pass.

This victory made Argentina keep hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages. Previously, Diego Placente's team lost against Senegal in the inaugural match.
Argentina is now in second place with a collection of three points. They were followed by Japan occupying third place and Poland at the bottom of the standings.
Senegal itself currently sits in the top position with a collection of maximum figures from two matches. In the latest match, Serigne's troops beat Poland.
In the final match of Group D, Argentina will meet Poland and Japan will clash with Senegal. Their match will take place on Friday, November 17.
