Strategy Of The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources To Accelerate Indonesia's Energy Transition, Increase Conversion Motor Incentives To Nusantara Grid

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) revealed a number of strategies to accelerate the transition to domestic energy.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dadan Kusdiana, said the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is fully committed to providing clean and affordable electricity, and can achieve the Net Zero Emission target by 2060, through various energy transition acceleration strategies.

"Some of the strategies of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the first to ensure that we enter NZE in 2060. The second is to ensure that the provision of electricity is also not only in terms of how it must be affordable, how this must be clean, but also in line with the availability of existing ones, especially in terms of resources", said Dadan, quoted on Thursday, November 9.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, he said, has also prepared efforts to accelerate the provision of clean energy, especially renewable energy, which has great potential, complete, and spread throughout Indonesia.

Types of renewable energy sources also vary, vary, and do not rely on just one or two types.

"This will ensure that the processes of this energy transition can also ensure in terms of resilience. We will later diversify in terms of utilization of EBT. We are also accelerating the supply of EBT. Now available is RUKN at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) which is carried out specifically for PLN, and also for other RUPTL, business area holders, also ensuring that the use of EBT is also a priority", explained Dadan.

With the scattered renewable energy sources, infrastructure development and transmission facilities are also needed.

The government will encourage the construction of electricity transmission connecting large islands so that industrial centers can also use clean electricity.

"We will develop what is called the Nusantara Grid. We will connect at least the big islands in the country, so that later we can share in terms of utilizing their resources and also ensure that the expense centers of growth, especially in this industry, can get clean energy. We will encourage this in terms of infrastructure development", he said.

In addition, the government also encourages the use of electric vehicles, including the conversion of electric motorcycles.

The government is preparing the latest regulations that increase the number of incentives for converting electric motorcycles, from the previous IDR 7 million, to IDR 10 million.

In addition, the government also appealed to the public to use induction electric stoves to divert the use of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

"We also encourage the use of Rooftop PLTS. So people can also contribute directly not only from the government, PLN, or business entities, but also the community can contribute directly to accelerating the energy transition process", he said.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also invites the participation of business entities to accelerate the process of providing and energy transition efforts.

"In terms of providing this energy, it is impossible to provide everything directly by the government, or PLN. We also invite the involvement of business entities so that this process can be faster and also take advantage of the procurement processes carried out by PLN for the purchase of electric power", concluded Dadan.
