NasDem Yakin Anies-Cak Imin Wins If Qualifying For The Second Round Of Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPP for the Territorial Election Winning of the NasDem Party, Effendi Choirie alias Gus Choi, said that the general chairman, Surya Paloh, had doubts that the pair of presidential candidates Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) could win the first round of the 2024 General Election.

However, said Gus Choi, if Anies-Cak Imin qualifys in the second round, the pair promoted by the Change Coalition has the potential to win.

"If according to Pak Surya believes there is not one round. It could be two rounds. But God willing, if we enter the second round, we can win," said Gus Choi at NasDem Tower, Cikini, Central Jakarta, Monday, November 6.

In the 1945 Constitution, it is regulated that presidential and vice presidential candidates who win the presidential election must get more than 50 percent of the vote in the election, by obtaining at least 20 percent of the votes in each province spread across more than half the number of provinces in Indonesia in the implementation of one round.

Then, if there is no presidential and vice presidential candidate pair who gets the votes as stipulated above, then the presidential election will proceed to the second round. Only pairs with the first and second most votes can take part in the second round of the presidential election.

Gus Choi targets Anies and Cak Imin to be able to get at least 66 million to 70 million votes in order to pass the second round.

However, he did not deny that Anies-Cak Imin's electability in a number of survey results was still more than Prabowo-Gibran and Ganjar-Mahfud MD. However, Gus Choi claimed that support for Anies-Cak Imin was increasing over time.

"Yes, it is. (The survey) is just input. There is no problem. But we feel that the movement of the supporters is getting wider and nothing is being financed," explained Gus Choi.

The addition of this support, continued Gus Choi, it is believed that Paloh will occur based on the NasDem experience of supporting Joko Widodo in the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections.

"Pak Surya can compare the mobilization for Jokowi in 2014 and 2019, Mr. Surya is the one who practices directly, that's how he feels," he said.

"Now with the widening support, it is increasingly widespread everywhere, the cost of more participation from the people," he added.
