DPD Invites MUI To Join The Constitutional Presidium Council To Meet MPR November 10, 2023
JAKARTA - Efforts to continue to build public awareness about the importance of returning to the 1945 Constitution, the original manuscript continues to be carried out by the DPD. A number of DPD members led by DPD Chairman LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti visited the Central Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).
LaNyalla invites MUI to join the Constitutional Presidium Council which will visit the MPR to ask that this nation return to the state system according to the formulation of the nation's founders.
"My presence here is to invite MUI, especially my teacher, KH Marsudi Syuhud, to come together to visit the MPR so that this nation returns to the 1945 Constitution of the original manuscript, to be further refined by addendum techniques," said LaNyalla in his statement, Thursday 2 November.
The senator from East Java then described several things that underlie the idea that this nation would return to the 1945 Constitution of the original manuscript. According to him, the problem of this nation must be addressed from the root of the problem, namely upstream.
"Our commitment is to improve this nation. Of course, improvements must be made upstream, because that is where the problem is. Upstream it is the 1945 Constitution. It is time for the 1945 Constitution to be couped in 1999-2002 to be returned according to the original," said LaNyalla.
Economic-Political Observer Ichsanuddin Noorsy, who also accompanied the Chairman of the DPD RI, added that what the DPD RI was doing was an effort to improve the condition of the nation which was getting more chaotic. Ichsanuddin explained that the presidential election system directly was very clear contrary to Pancasila, especially the fourth precept of Pancasila.
"America alone as the dedengkot of democracy does not apply public votes, but electoral votes. Then why do we swallow concepts that are clearly contrary to the fourth precept of Pancasila," said Ichsanuddin Noorsy.

He then quoted former United States President Barack Obama's speech on one occasion at Al-Azhar University in Cairo. "Obama at that time said 'democracy spread by the United States is not compatible with other nations," said Ichsanuddin Noorsy.
In response to this, MUI Deputy Chairperson KH Marsudi Syuhud said that, in the context of the invitation of the Chairman of the DPD RI to visit the MPR RI, his party must institutionally hold a meeting to build an agreement first. "On this occasion we did not decide whether or not to agree with the idea of returning to the 1945 Constitution of the original manuscript," said Kiai Marsudi.
According to Kiai Marsudi, change is a natural thing. He illustrates that different places and times may differ. Most importantly, he said, there are three things that must be held firmly so that this nation does not disband.
"The first is regional integration, the second is integration of leaders and the people and the third is integration of values," explained Kiai Marsudi.
He then advised the Chairman of the DPD RI to pay attention to four things in national politics. The first is about the structure of the nation and state. Second is unity, both region and idea. The third is rules ranging from the 1945 Constitution to its derivatives. And finally it can be controlled.
"Leaders must be able to be controlled and control. This country is a country of agreement. To get to an agreement, deliberation. Those are important things that I want to convey," said Kiai Marsudi.
On that occasion, the Chairman of the DPD RI was accompanied by Special Staff Brigadier General Pol Amostian and Head of Setpim Sanherif Hutagaol. Also accompanying Economic and Political Observer Ichsanuddin Noorsy, and Constitutional Activist Zulkifli S Ekomi.
Meanwhile, MUI was present including MUI Deputy General Chairperson KH Marsudi Syuhud and Buya Basri Bermanda, MUI Secretary General H Amirsyah Tambunan, MUI Chair for Da'wah and Ukhuwah KH M Cholil Nafis, MUI Chair for Foreign Relations and International Cooperation Prof Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, Deputy Secretary General (Wasekjen) MUI for Sharia and Halal Economics, KH Rofiqul Umam Ahmad and a number of other MUI administrators.
