5 Lionel Messi's Record That Is Hard To Break, Including The Eighth Ballon D'Or
JAKARTA Lionel Messi has just received the eighth Ballon d'Or this year. This award is one of several record players that will be difficult to break.
The Argentine national team player took the top spot to beat two of its competitors Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in an event at the Theater du Chatelet, Paris, Tuesday, October 31, 2023 in the morning WIB.
The player nicknamed La Pulga won this award after helping Argentina win the World Cup in Qatar at the end of last year.
This achievement made the former Barcelona player beat Haaland who won the trebles (English Premier League trophy, European Champions League trophy, and FA Cup) with Manchester City.
Here's Lionel Messi's record that's hard to break:
Most Ballon d'Or Awards - 8
Messi now collects three Ballon d'Ors more than any other player. Cristiano Ronaldo, who is now playing in Saudi Arabia, is Messi's closest rival with five awards.
However, at the age of 38 and not even on the list of 30 best players this year, it is very difficult to see this Portugal forward can compete with Messi's achievements.
Meanwhile Haaland, Real Madrid player Jude Bellingham, Real and Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr. have the opportunity to compete in the future.
However, it still takes a long time to match or get past Messi. The names are even a bit difficult to catch up with Ronaldo.
The most goals in one season of La Liga competition - 50
Messi's 50 goals in 37 appearances for Barcelona in 2011/2012 are not only La Liga records, but also the most in one season in one of Europe's top five since the formation of the Premier League in 1992/1993.
Since the formation of La Liga in 1929, there have only been three players who managed to reach 40 goals. Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo did it twice and Luis Suarez did it seven years ago, the last time the record was reached.

The most goals in all competitions in one season - 73
Messi scored 73 goals in all competitions for Barcelona in the 2011/2012. This record doesn't seem to be passed easily.
Haaland broke a variety of records in his Premier League debut last season. However, despite being seen scoring goals every week, he ended the season with just 52 goals.
The name closest to this record is Everton Dixie Dean. He was 10 goals behind when he scored 63 incredible goals in 1927/1928, a Premier League record that has lasted 95 years.
The Most Goals In The European Champions League For One Club - 120
Messi failed to reach the record as Europe's Champions League top scorer. He was in second place or 11 goals less than Cristiano Ronaldo who scored 140 goals.
However, Messi's 120 goals for Barcelona are the highest number ever scored by a player for a club in the competition.
Ronaldo with 105 goals for Real Madrid is the next most, while Karim Benzema's 78 goals for Real are in third place.
The most goals for Argentina - 106
Messi is Argentina's top scorer since starting his international career in 2005.
In that time to date, he has scored 48 more goals than previous record holders, Gabriel Batistuta, and 63 more goals than Sergio Aguero who was in third place.
