Petrokimia Gresik Optimizes Sorong's Oil Production In West Papua
JAKARTA - Petrokimia Gresik, supports the optimization of domestic oil production by contributing to the injection project "Huff andwah" in Walio Field, Sorong Regency, West Papua through the use of Green Surfactant.
President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, in a written statement in Jakarta, Sunday, October 29, stated that the Huff &wah project in Walio Field with the No Cure No Pay scheme began in November 2023.
"Pertrochemical Gresik collaborated with several parties, where Petrokimia Gresik was tasked with supplying 36,000 liters of Green Surfactant," he said, quoted by Antara.
Petrokimia Gresik is the only domestic industry capable of producing Green Surfactant. Petrokimia Gresik currently owns two Sulfat Acid Plants with a total capacity of 1,170,000.
One of the intermediate products from the factory is the SO3 gas which is the raw material for Green Surfants with abundant quantities and stable quality.
Gresik's Green Surfant Petrokimia factory, which has been in production since 2020, has a production capacity of 600kL/Tahun.
In the future, it is projected that in 2026 the production capacity of the Gresik Green Surfactant Petrokimia factory can reach 5,500kL/year.
"Green Surfactant before joining this project has passed several required trial stages. Green Surfants are able to produce quite promising recovery values," said Dwi Satriyo.
Director of Operations and Production of Petrokimia Gresik, Digna Jatiningsih added that the Green Surfactant produced by BUMN is the only environmentally friendly surfactant product produced domestically to optimize petroleum exploration using the Improved Oil Recovery (IOR) and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods.

Meanwhile, SEVP Operation Petrokimia Gresik, I Ketut Rusnaya, said that Green Surfactant products, apart from being able to increase the productivity of petroleum wells, are also able to remove crude oil from the field or old oil wells that are no longer producing.
According to him, oil drilling will one day decrease in productivity, although there are still many reserves in the well, because oil is trapped in rocks or others.
By using Green Surfactant, he continued, there will be an increase in oil production which was initially left behind because it is difficult to produce now can be optimized.
"Huff andwah Green Surfants in the Walio Field are expected to continue as EOR pilot projects that can further show the quality of our products," said Ketut.
