Land Landslide Victims In Yahukimo Papua Will Get Money And Logistics Assistance
PAPUA A total of 12 villages in Amuma District, Yahukimo Regency experienced landslides and drought. Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. Suharyanto said the area is currently in emergency response status, starting from October 21 to November 1, 2023.
"The Yahukimo Regency Government has established an emergency response status so that BNPB can immediately step down to provide assistance, we will send logistics and budgets," said Suharyanto in his statement, Thursday, October 26.
Suharyanto explained, as a result of the disaster as many as 70 houses suffered minor damage and 30 houses were heavily damaged. Therefore, his party will send a number of aids to affected residents.
"As a result of the landslide disaster, 70 houses were slightly damaged and more than 30 houses were heavily damaged. Like in other areas where houses were slightly damaged, they would receive assistance per house of Rp. 15 million and heavy damage would receive a replacement of Rp. 60 million," he said.
In addition, his party will also prepare logistical assistance such as 20 tons of rice, 10 thousand packages of ready-to-eat food, 10,000 protein biscuits to an occupancy tent.

The aid delivery uses a Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft with a cargo of nearly 1,500 kg per flight.
"We prepare 20 tons of rice, 10,000 packages of ready-to-eat food, 10,000 packs of portein biscuits, 5 units of refugee tents, 1,500 packages of basic necessities, 1,500 packages of hygiene kits, 50 units of solar panels, and 1 billion operational budgets," he said.
Suharyanto emphasized that this assistance is the first support and does not rule out being sent again according to the conditions and needs at the affected locations.
"This is initial support, we will continue to coordinate with local governments, more or less the need to support the affected communities," concluded Suharyanto.
