Supporting The Economy In West Sumatra, The Ministry Of Industry Supplyes Industrial Human Resources Through These 3 Vocational Education Units
The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is ready to supply competent industrial human resources (HR) from the vocational education unit to support the economy in Padang, West Sumatra.
The Ministry of Industry's efforts were carried out through the role of the three units of vocational education in the Minang area, namely SMK-SMAK Padang, SMK-SMTI Padang, and Polytechnic AtI Padang.
"Our vocational education units produce human resources that are ready to work, with high employment. For example, of the 258 graduates of SMK-SMAK Padang, 74.42 percent of them have been accepted to work in companies. Then, 25.58 percent of graduates are still in the recruitment process and some choose to continue to higher education," said Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry Masrokhan in a written statement received by VOI, Wednesday, October 25.
In order to improve the quality of its students, SMK-SMAK Padang applies practice learning with a weight of 70 percent, national competency certification, international competency certification, English certification, and industrial work practices.
Meanwhile, of the 170 graduates of SMK-SMTI Padang in 2023, 107 of them immediately worked in the industry, 47 graduates continued their studies, 1 entrepreneurial graduate, and 15 graduates are still in the recruitment process.

Masrokhan said that graduates of SMK-SMTI Padang not only received diplomas, competency certificates, and certificates of foreign languages, but also 66 people had obtained international competency certificates in industrial chemistry and 86 people received certification in the field of health, safety, and environment (HSE).
Then, the AtI Padang Polytechnic has held a graduation inauguration consisting of 416 graduates of the Diploma III Program and 22 graduates of the Setara Diploma I program.
A total of 65 of them have been accepted to work in the industry, and other graduates are still in the recruitment stage.
"Vocational education is also a way to build the younger generation into competent industrial human resources, so that it can spur economic growth through the development of competitive industries," he said.
