White House Says Iran Actively Facilitates Attacks on US Military Bases
JAKARTA - The White House said Iran had in some cases "actively facilitated" rocket and drone attacks by proxy groups against United States military bases in Iraq and Syria.
White House spokesman John Kirby said such attacks had increased over the past week and especially in recent days. According to him, the United States believes these groups are supported by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and the Iranian government, which also continues to support the militant groups Hamas and Hezbollah.
"We know that Iran is closely monitoring these events, and in some cases, actively facilitating these attacks and encouraging other parties who may want to exploit the conflict for their own good, or for the good of Iran," explained Kirby as reported by Reuters, October 24.
It is known that attacks on US troops have increased since Hamas' latest conflict with Israel broke out on October 7.
"We are deeply concerned by the potential for significant escalation of these attacks in the days ahead," Kirby said.
President Joe Biden himself sent naval forces to the Middle East in the last two weeks, where they included two aircraft carriers, a number of warships, and around 2,000 Narinir.

"We know Iran's goal is to maintain denial here, but we will not allow them to do that," said Kirby.
"We will also not allow any threat to our interests in this region to remain undisturbed," he concluded.
