Considered Too Young, Gibran Must Be Able To Prove Deserved As A Vice President Candidate
JAKARTA - The candidate for vice president (cawapres) of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM), Gibran Rakabuming Raka, is considered to be able to prove his ability to the public that he deserves to be the vice presidential candidate accompanying Prabowo Subianto.
"(Gibran) must show the public, show the people, and show voters that it is appropriate to be elected by Prabowo and the Advanced Indonesia Coalition," said Al Azhar University political observer Ujang Komarudin, Monday, October 23.
Ujang believes that the eldest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is able to answer public questions. Although the experience is considered still small because it has only been 3 years in politics.
However, said Ujang, Gibran must show a number of ideas for progress for the Republic of Indonesia and achievements. Including, the closeness to the Indonesian people, which amounts to more than 270 million people.
"That must be shown to the public so that public doubts that Gibran has been able to fully answer when accompanying Prabowo and his coalition parties," he said.
According to Ujang, public doubts are a challenge that Gibran must face as a young person. Moreover, this is the first time in the history of Indonesian democracy, which is believed to run in the 2024 presidential election.
"So that must be shown so that the public openly assesses that Gibran is a worthy figure, who deserves to be juxtaposed with Prabowo," said Ujang.

Previously, the General Chairperson of Gerindra as well as the future Presidential Candidate for the Advanced Indonesia Kaolisi (KIM), Prabowo Subianto, felt strange at the negative view of Gibran who was considered too young to become a vice presidential candidate. Especially after the decision of the Constitutional Court regarding the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates at least 40 years.
"What I feel is strange, if it's too young, then it's too old. Kumaha? Yes, right," Prabowo said while attending the Gerindra Rapimnas in the Darmawangsa, Monday, October 23.
"So if it's not suitable to be searched for. Democracy is democracy, right?," he continued.
Gibran was announced as a vice presidential candidate by Prabowo on Sunday, October 23 night. Currently, the Prabowo-Gibran pair is supported by Gerindra, Golkar, PAN, Democrats, Gelora, Prima, and Garuda.
