The NTT Government Has Prepared 100 Tons Of Rice To Anticipate Food Prone

The East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government stated that it has prepared rice reserves in each district/city in the area. The reserve rice is in the form of government aid rice (CBP) which can be used to help residents who experience food shortages as a result of drought.

"If there is a food shortage as a result of drought, the district/city government in NTT can use 100 tons of CBP food assistance that has been allocated," said Head of the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Social Service, Yosef Rasi when contacted in Kupang, Saturday.

He said this was related to the anticipation of the NTT government in dealing with food shortages in the community as a result of drought due to El Nino.

According to him, each district/city already has 100 tons of government rice reserve food assistance, which is the authority of the regents and mayors to be used to help residents affected by drought.

"The district/city government should use the rice to help residents, they do not have to wait for the assistance of the NTT Provincial government, but if they experience a shortage, they propose assistance to the NTT Provincial Government," said Yosef Rasi.

According to him, the NTT government provided assistance after the district/city government declared an emergency status for drought and proposed to the acting Governor of NTT.

According to him, the proposal must be supported by complete data, making it easier for the NTT Government to send CBP assistance which is under the authority of the NTT government to reach 200 tons.

"The Social Service in districts/cities should coordinate with related parties to see how much impact the drought will have on both non-functional land and how many residents are affected by drought," said Yosef Rasi.

According to him, the district/city government should not hesitate in using 100 tons of CBP rice as long as it is for the benefit of people experiencing drought.

"As long as there are no problems for the community, the most important thing is not to use them for themselves, of course it is wrong, the rice is prepared for the benefit of the community so that it cannot be stored when a disaster occurs, it must be used for the community," he added.
