Novel Sangsi KPK Chairman Firli Obeys Law, Comes When Called By Metro Police Today

JAKARTA - Former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Novel Baswedan questioned the consistency of KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri who always talks that everyone must obey the legal process.

He was asked to prove his statement by fulfilling the summons of the Polda Metro Jaya today, Friday, October 20.

It is known that Firli was summoned in connection with the alleged extortion by the KPK leadership against former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo. He will be examined as a witness.

"So far, Firli Bahuri has always said that other people must obey the law, whether Firli Bahuri will carry it out when it comes to himself," Novel said in a written statement to reporters, Thursday, October 19.

Novel asked all parties to monitor this process. Although Firli is believed not to attend.

"Many people believe Firli Bahuri will not attend, I think this is the time we will be able to see," he said.

The series of cases of alleged extortion or acceptance of gratuities by the KPK leadership against Syahrul Yasin Limpo began when Polda Metro Jaya received a complaint on August 12, 2023.

Then the collection of information materials (pulbaket) was carried out by the Tipidkor Sub-Directorate of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya based on a letter issued on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

Not long after, the police issued an investigation warrant on August 21. A number of people were questioned, including Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

After the series of investigations were completed, investigators carried out a case title. As a result, a criminal element was found so that the status of the case was upgraded to the investigation stage.

At this stage a number of witnesses were summoned. In fact, KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri was also asked to come on Friday, October 20 for questioning by investigators.
