KPAI Warns Of Child Exploitation Free 2024 Elections

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) reminded all parties to present a child-friendly 2024 election.KPAI commissioner Diyah Puspitarini asked those involved in the five-year democratic party not to exploit children, especially when campaigning."So that elections become child friendly, where children are not exploited in the campaign," he said when contacted in Jakarta, Thursday, October 19, was confiscated by Antara.Based on Article 16 of Law Number 10 of 2016 concerning General Elections and Article 280 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections, strictly prohibits involving children and involving people who do not have the right to vote.Based on these rules, according to him, it is important for all parties to pay attention to the perspective of children and the best interests for children during the election.Another thing that must be considered, he said, is good political education and open access to information for novice voters."The election must also provide good political education and disclosure of access to information for novice voters under the age of 18 and children with novice voters with disabilities to use their voting rights properly and correctly," he said.
He appealed to the contestants to prioritize a polite and civilized democratic party by avoiding verbal and non-verbal violence.The General Elections Commission (KPU) opens the registration period for presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2024 General Election, Thursday 19 October.Based on KPU Regulation Number 18 of 2023 concerning the Candidacy for the General Election of the President and Vice President, the registration period lasts for seven days, 19-25 October 2023.
