Realizing A Sustainable Green City, Sinar Mas Land And Beam Mobility Presents Application-Based Environmental Friendly Fleet
JAKARTA - Air pollution is a problem that has received the attention of the Indonesian people. The Life Air Quality Index (AQLI) report as of August 2023 states that Indonesia is one of the six countries that contributes the most to global air pollution.
Meanwhile, data from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) from August to September 2023 shows that the level of air pollution in a number of major cities in Indonesia exceeds the safe threshold. Transportation is one of the factors causing the high level of pollution in Indonesia to reach 44 percent.
In this regard, Sinar Mas Land took concrete steps in minimizing air pollution through the provision of electric bicycles in the BSD Green Office Park office area and a number of residential areas in BSD City. The provision of electric bicycles in collaboration with the largest Micro Mobility Beam in Asia Pacific, launched an electric bicycle ridesharing service on Tuesday, October 17 at Green Office Park, BSD City.
The presence of the Mobility Beam at BSD City is certainly in line with Sinar Mas Land's vision of implementing the concept of sustainable development while creating an environmentally friendly green city in accordance with ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles.
Irawan Harahap, CEO of Digital Tech Ecosystem & Development Sinar Mas Land, said that the collaboration with Beam Mobility is one of the company's efforts to create environmentally friendly residential areas and provide optimal service for people in BSD City. In addition, the use of this electric bicycle as a micro mobility solution in BSD City is also a form of Sinar Mas Land's support for the government to achieve the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target by 2060.
"Armada Beam Mobility will help mobilize between residents and visitors, especially in BSD City to BSD Green Office Park. We hope that the Beam Mobility fleet will be able to support the short journey of residents in their daily activities with environmentally friendly transportation," he said in a written statement, Thursday, October 19.
Country Manager of Beam Mobility Indonesia, Devraj Sathivelu said, his party is very happy to be collaborating with one of the most advanced and dense urban areas in Tangerang.
"Beam Mobility is not just a ridesharing e-bike service to support community mobility. But more than that Beam Mobility is an initiation program that stimulates the participation of the Community to live a new, more sustainable lifestyle," he said.
In Indonesia, Beam Mobility has been present in several cities and areas including Bogor and Bali. Furthermore, Beam services are also available in several residential areas, as well as educational areas such as the University of Indonesia, IPB and Universitas Brawijaya. Beam Mobility has operated scooter and electric bicycle sharing services in more than 8 countries in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia and Turkey.

"We provide 1 type of fleet in the BSD City area, namely Beam Rover, as many as 300 units with 30 parker spots at the Digital Hub, Green Office Park, including The Icon cluster, Vanya Park andwato. All units of Beam electric bikes are also equipped with the most advanced technology that is application-based and integrated with the IoT system, hereby we present an alternative to sustainable transportation that is comfortable, safe, fun and zero pollution, besides that the Beam fleet is also a feeder for commuters to travel from home -- general transportation -- office and vice versa," added Devraj.
The entire Beam Mobility fleet has a maximum speed limit of 25km/hour equipped with the IoT technology feature, so that the condition of the vehicle can be monitored in real-time, via geofencing activation, and can automatically detect problems, such as when battery replacement is needed. Each fleet is also equipped with a spare battery. The Mobility beam ensures its fleet can be accessed by the public, where each fleet is equipped with use and safety instructions in driving.
"Based on the analysis of the Traffic Accident Analysis System (TAAS) of the COROAD, for the last 6 years from 2017 to 2022, the PM (Personal Mobility Vehicle) fleet, or fleets whose speeds are limited and usually at pedestrian locations have the lowest accident rates among all means of transportation.
