These 4 Political Parties Cannot Propose Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates In The 2024 Presidential Election
The General Election Commission (KPU) has confirmed that four political parties participating in the 2024 General Election cannot propose or register pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2024 presidential election. This is because the 4 political parties are new political parties that do not yet have a vote or seat in the previous 2019 presidential election.
The four political parties participating in the election are the Indonesian People's Wave Party (Gelora), the Labor Party, the Ummat Party, and the Nusantara Awakening Party (PKN).
"So, political parties or coalitions of political parties that can nominate or register presidential-vice candidate candidates are political parties participating in the 2019 Election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats in the DPR RI at least 20% of the total number of seats in the DPR for the 2019 General Election or get 25% valid votes for the 2019 General Election," said KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari, Thursday 12 October.
In addition, said Hasyim, the party must also be a participant in the 2024 General Election. If it is not a participant in the 2024 General Election such as the Beringin Karya Party (Working) and the Justice and Unity Party (PKP), said Hasyim, then the party cannot propose a pair of presidential and vice presidential candidates.
"Parpol participating in the 2019 Election but not participating in the 2024 General Election also cannot be part of a political party or a combination of political parties that propose or register a pair of candidates for president and vice president," explained Hasyim.
Hasyim also explained the consequences when political parties could not propose pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election. One of them, the logo of the party concerned is not contained in the 2024 presidential election ballot. The reason is, the design of the 2024 presidential election ballot as regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections consists of serial numbers, photos, the name of the presidential and vice presidential candidates as well as the sign of the political party that proposes or registers the pairs of candidates.

Another consequence, continued Hasyim, was that the political party could not provide campaign funds in the name of the party for one of the pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates. The contribution of campaign funds can only be done by individuals, not representing the new political party.
"The new political party cannot be a source of campaign funds for the presidential candidate pair and vice president, if there is a political party chairman who wants to contribute to the presidential election campaign fund, it is personal like people per person or like a group of people," concluded Hasyim.
