PEKANBARU - The police arrested nine perpetrators of street crimes, most of whom were minors who often attacked their victims randomly.
Wakaporlesta Pekanbaru AKBP Henky Poerwanto explained that the perpetrators carried out their actions in groups at several locations of the incident in Pekanbaru, Riau.
"The perpetrator randomly chooses the victim. Six of the perpetrators are minors," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 9.
These nine perpetrators were arrested last Sunday (8/10). The case occurred in the early hours of Sunday (3/9) at around 01.00 WIB when the victim named Andika crossed Jalan Arifin Achmad, Pekanbaru.
Suddenly the perpetrator who was riding a seven motorbike approached him and threw a sickle.
As a result of the abuse, the victim was injured but at that time the perpetrator left without taking the victim's property.
After a few hours after the incident, the same group returned to action in Songket Monument, Bina Widya District. At that time, 15 vehicles approached the victim named Zulfan and killed him with sickles.
"In the second incident, the perpetrator also did not take the victim's property. The victim was chosen randomly," he continued.
It didn't stop there, this group returned to action on Jalan Naga Sakti, precisely around the Riau Main Stadium, Sunday (17/9). They attacked three victims who happened to be passing by.
In contrast, this time the perpetrator not only carried out the attack but also took the victim's cellphone and motorbike. "After being investigated, we managed to arrest nine perpetrators. However, there are still seven other perpetrators who are still being chased," he explained.

The Handsome Police Chief, Kompol Asep Rahmat, said that this group determined the gathering point before launching its action. "Even one of the group leaders is a minor," he added.
From this disclosure, the police confiscated evidence of sickles, double sticks and seven motorcycles used by the perpetrators during their actions.
In addition, the police also urge the public not to go out late at night if they do not have urgent interests. Parents are also expected to be able to supervise their children more so that they do not do unwanted things.
