Sharon Den Adel Reveals Reasons For Within Temptation To Use AI Technology To Create Clip Videos

JAKARTA - In a new interview with Wikimetal, vocalist Sharon Den Adel of the Dutch metal giant Within Temptation spoke about the band's decision to use artificial intelligence (AI) technology to create their newest single videos Bleed Out and Wireless.

When asked if he and his bandmates were worried about the various dangers posed by AI, from small to potential, existential, before implementing them in making their videos, Sharon replied like this.

"Well, yes, really, because I understand this concern and I hope that soon there will be a law that guides everyone about what is allowed and what is not allowed because sometimes it's not very clear what the danger is and it will help people to make the right decisions, I think," Sharon started.

"For us, this is a tool we love, especially because of the fact that this tool provides so many opportunities and a lot of time, it won't... It's very expensive to do what we're actually doing now normally, and the video is still very expensive, although it may not look like the video," he continued.

The vocalist continued, the band was very happy with the results because this is a very new type of video for them, something they can't afford because it costs a lot of money and takes a lot of time to make it.

"And also in terms of money, it's very expensive to make something similar, animation like that. We always want it, and this is the first time, with tools like this, it's still possible," added Sharon.

"And we want a painting to come to life, and that's what we're trying to do. And it turns out to be like that. But as I said, lip synchronization is something that needs to be fixed in the future; it's something the AI doesn't master. So in this case, it's a little less beautiful. But on the other hand, we do everything the same way we usually do."

"I mean, we use the same group of people, working with the same person. So we have a director, we write a storyline together. There are actors who are filmed, this band is filmed, everyone is filmed like we usually do, but the only thing is that we add someone to it, to the team; that's an AI specialist."

"And, of course, there are still many things to think about what to do with AI in the future. But I think there are many advantages, not only in the arts, but also in the hospital, such as finding certain drugs for certain things, not the medicine, but maybe problems, such as scans and everything. For example, this is easier to do with AI than many people, and this is more expensive, "he concluded.

Last month, Within Placeion released a new single titled Ritual. The song is the focal song of the upcoming band album Bleed Out, which will be released on October 20.
