Bandung Police in West Java revealed cases of online prostitution by trading three of the five female victims who were underage.

"So we managed to arrest the perpetrators or suspects two people on behalf of HAD (24) and DEP (22) the two suspects as pimps or those who offer online prostitution services," said Bandung Police Chief Kombes Budi Sartono, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 3.

The case began with the police who received suspicion and information from the public regarding the findings of online prostitution using the MiChat application in an apartment in Bandung.

"So members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the PPA unit carried out cyber patrols and found from public information that there was an offer through the MiChat application," he said.

The mode of this suspect can get a minor victim is by making one of the victims a girlfriend. After they were dating, the suspect asked his girlfriend to work and look for the four friends in this illicit business.

"So the suspect's modus operandi was that on behalf of HAD and DEP he was dating the victim on behalf of RNF and after dating, the victim was also offered as online prostitution," he said.

The five victims who have been designated as witnesses have been handed back to their respective parents.

For their actions, the two perpetrators were charged with Article 2, Article 11, and Article 12 of Law Number 21/2007 concerning TIP with a maximum penalty of 15 years.

In addition, the perpetrators were also charged with Article 88 in conjunction with Article 76 of Law Number 35/2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23/2002 concerning Child Protection with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
