5 Regions In Bali With Drought Alert Status
DENPASAR - Center for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BBMKG) Region III Denpasar mapped five areas in Bali to enter the Drought Alert status because there was no rain for at least 61 consecutive days.
"It's been more than 61 days that it hasn't rained," said BMKG Data and Information Division Coordinator Region III Denpasar I Nyoman Gede Wiryajaya, Monday, October 2.
The five areas in Bali that are included in the Drought Alert status are the majority in Buleleng Regency covering the Districts of Gerokgak, Buleleng, Sawan, and Kubu added. Meanwhile, one sub-district is in Karangasem Regency, namely Kubu District.
There is also Kubu District as a sub-district in Bali where the number of days there is no rain no later than 90 days.
Despite the Drought Alert status, BMKG estimates that there may still be rain but with minimal rainfall, which is less than 20 millimeters per 10 days.
Meanwhile, seven areas in Bali are included in the Drought Alert status, namely Kintamani, Karangasem, Kuta, North Kuta, South Kuta, Nusa Penida, and Denpasar Districts. The number of days without rain reached a minimum of 31 days with the possibility that rain could still occur in less than 20 millimeters per 10 days.
Meanwhile, there are five areas that are included in the Drought Alert status, namely Melaya District in Jembrana Regency and the rest in Buleleng Regency, namely Seririt, Busungbiu, Banjar and Tejakula Districts.
For this alert status, the number of days without rain is at least 21 days with the opportunity for rain to occur less than 20 millimeters per 10 days.
He asked the public to be aware of the status of the drought, because it has the potential to trigger forest and land fires (karhutla).
Previously, the Denpasar BBMKG estimated that the peak of the dry season in Bali would occur in July-August 2023 which was influenced by the El Nino phenomenon.
