High Securities, Olahan Products Tengkawang West Kalimantan Now Reaches International Market

PONTIANAK - Has various privileges and is widely spread in West Kalimantan, so it is not surprising that the tengkawang fruit is used as the regional mascot.

Most recently, local products from tengkawang processed from West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) managed by Forestwise Wild Keepers from fruit to crude oil in Sintang Regency are now penetrating the international market.

"We have exported almost 99 percent of the sale of products made from tengkawang," said Forestwise Wild Keepers Martin Manager, during the LIKE Tengkawang Festival, in Pontianak, Saturday.

He said the selling price of raw materials from tengkawang that had been processed became crude oil ranging from Rp. 150,000 to Rp. 200,000 per kilogram.

"Hopefully in the future tengkawang products will be better known to the public and many local companies will use raw materials for cosmetics," he also said.

He conveyed that the processed products all came from the forests in West Kalimantan.

"Therefore, we must maintain the forest and manage forest products well, so that people can enjoy forest products," he said again.

Meanwhile, Tengkawang Network of Kalimantan, Valentinus Heri, said that support was needed to help the economy in West Kalimantan. Some people who have the potential for tengkawang still need support in terms of equipment or technical assistance in processing tengkawang fruit into processed products that have economic value.

"Some people who have the potential for tengkawang still need support in terms of equipment or technical assistance in processing tengkawang fruit into processed products that are economic-valued," he said again.

According to him, the potential for tengkawang and roadmap of the Tengkawang Network of Kalimantan was compiled several years ago, and several challenges or obstacles faced in the development of tengkawang have not been resolved because they have not been able to find the right solution.

"This can be seen, for example, from the obstacles faced by the industry or buyers related to the uncertainty of the availability of raw materials for the tengkawang fruit, among others, because of the tengkawang tree which does not bear fruit every year," he said.

According to him, based on information from the community, tengkawang harvest will most likely occur at the end of 2023. Facing the potential for the tengkawang harvest, efforts are needed from long ago for the absorption of the tengkawang fruit market, and other preparation efforts ranging from the production stage of fruit to marketing.

"Therefore, the meeting of the Tengkawang Network of Kalimantan this year is very much needed, as a momentum for harvest preparation, consolidation of network members and the introduction of tengkawang to the public more widely," he concluded, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, September 30.
