Kaesang Joining PSI Is Considered An Entrance To Jokowi's Political Trah
Political observer from Esa Unggul University Jamiluddin Ritonga, assessed that the joining of Kaesang Pangarep to the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) was the entry point for Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s political route after stepping down from the President of the Republic of Indonesia. According to him, Jokowi does not want to just be a party official at the PDIP after his retirement as RI1. Therefore, Jokowi encouraged his youngest son to become chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).
"That needs to be done because Jokowi is only a party official at the PDIP. Jokowi will not have power in PDIP after his retirement as president," said Jamiluddin in Jakarta, Tuesday, September 26.
By making Kaesang the chairman of PSI, continued Jamiluddin, Jokowi can at least continue to take part in politics. Especially if PSI manages to qualify for Senayan as targeted by his youngest son.
"PSI will also be able to be used to secure its political properties. This will be realized if PSI in the 2024 Pileg will at least become a party that enters Senayan," said Jamiluddin.
Jamiluddin sees that the target of passing parliament will not be difficult to realize if Jokowi is all out to support PSI. Although, he said, the support was carried out indirectly.
"So, Kaesang's entry at PSI has a long-term political calculation. Jokowi's path may make PSI his big home to continue his political path," said Jamiluddin. Previously, Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep admitted that his appointment as party leader could occur thanks to his special status as son of President Joko Widodo.
This statement was made by Kaesang after the PSI National Land Coffee (Kopdarnas) event which appointed him as chairman of the party.
"Yes, private. Privileges are always there. That's it, that's it. I agree," said Kaesang at Djakarta Theater, Central Jakarta, Monday, September 25.
Moreover, Kaesang admitted that his decision to enter politics was inspired by his father's footsteps.
Seeing Jokowi's track record departing from the position of Mayor of Solo, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, to the President through the PDIP support, Kaesang saw that he also has the potential to do politics like his father.
Kaesang also asked Jokowi for permission when he decided to join the party bearing the rose symbol.

"Frankly, I entered politics, one of the inspirations, my own father," said Kaesang.
"He is a person who I really love and really respect, I want to follow in his footsteps in politics for good. To my father, I want to convey, my permission to take my path, sir. May Gusti Allah bless this path I choose," he continued.
