BMKG: Aceh Is Still Showered With Heavy Rain And Strong Winds, Beware Of Floods
BANDA ACEH - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts heavy rain and strong winds will continue to hit the Aceh region in the next few days. The public is asked to be alert to the potential for floods and landslides.
"Based on forecasts based on the impact of heavy rain in Aceh, the area that has the potential to be on alert status today is West Aceh," said BMKG Class I Forecaster Sultan Iskandar Muda Aceh Besar Faqih Musyaffa in Banda Aceh, Antara, Monday, September 25.
He explained that in the next few days, wind bends were observed in the Aceh region, which formed areas of slowing wind speed in some areas. This condition can increase the potential for rain cloud growth in Aceh.

The areas that have the potential to experience heavy rain and strong winds include the districts of West Aceh, Southwest Aceh, Aceh Besar, Aceh Jaya, Southeast Aceh, Aceh Tamiang, North Aceh, Bener Meriah, Langsa, Nagan Raya and Lhokseumawe.
For West Aceh, he continued, today the weather conditions are predicted to be heavy rain and lightning, from morning until noon. It even continued into the night and early morning.
"And tomorrow (26/9) light to heavy rain is predicted in the morning and evening and early morning. "Therefore, the West Aceh region is on alert status due to the potential for high rainfall," he said.
Apart from West Aceh which must be on alert, according to him, there are also areas which are still in the alert category as of today, such as Aceh Tamiang, Aceh Singkil, South Aceh, Aceh Jaya, Aceh Besar, Langsa, Subulussalam, Nagan Raya, Aceh Barat Daya, and Sabang City. .
Meanwhile, the wind speed in the province nicknamed Tanah Rencong, said Faqih, is on average between 10-30 kilometers per hour or still in the moderate category, not including strong winds. The dominant wind blows from the west to the south.
Apart from that, BMKG also remembers the potential for sea waves reaching 4 meters in Aceh waters, especially in the waters north of Sabang and the West Indian Ocean in Aceh which can reach 2.5 - 4 meters.
