Alexander Marwata Ready To Resign Because Of Allowing TNI Officers To Meet KPK Prisoners

Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata is ready to resign if the KPK Supervisory Board finds him guilty of allowing TNI officers to meet detainees suspected of bribery in case management at the Supreme Court (MA).

This was conveyed after revealing that it was not the KPK leadership who met with detainees on the 15th floor of the KPK's Red and White building but TNI officers. He said he was ready to bear the consequences of abnormal conditions due to tensions between the two institutions.

"I will be fired tomorrow, it doesn't matter. Not being fired, because no one can fire me. For example, from the recommendation of Dewas Alex must resign, well, with pleasure. It has been eight years for me (to be the leader of the KPK, ed)," Alexander told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, September 21.

Alexander then explained that he could not prohibit the meeting until it finally occurred. Because, from the start there has been tension between the two institutions due to the appointment of the Head of the National SAR Agency (Basarnas) Marshal Henri Alfiandi as a suspect in alleged corruption.

"Once again, when we are in such a condition that the way I act and think is not normal," he said.

However, he actually thought this matter was over. Moreover, the TNI has taken action against Henri, who is a suspect because it started with the KPK's hand arrest operation (OTT).

He only conveyed this to explain the objections to the existence of KPK leaders who met detainees. "I think this issue has been cleared," said Alexander.

"Did the leadership meet, I have conveyed, even the Chairman of the KPK has said that no leader has met (restriction, ed)," he concluded.
