Volkswagen Continues the Success of the SUV Segment by Presenting the New Tiguan
JAKARTA - Volkswagen is again presenting the latest model or third generation of the Tiguan. The VW Tiguan is the best-selling product owned by the German manufacturer, having sold more than 7.6 million units since it was launched in 2007.
This latest generation is expected to continue its success for many years. Kai Grunitz, as VW's technical boss, said that the latest Tiguan comes with a variety of cutting-edge technologies originating from the MQB Evo platform while expanding the hybrid range in the automotive market.
"Volkswagen is once again expanding various high-tech developments, such as the DCC Pro or a new hybrid vehicle with an electric range of around 100 km," Kai said in a company statement, Tuesday, September 19.
The compact SUV has a design language familiar to the ID.4 model, especially the closed top grille. The latest Tiguan offers a front-wheel drive system as standard and all-wheel drive as an option.
VW also updated the Tiguan model with IQ.Light HD headlights in the front lighting. These lights are also installed on the latest Touareg models.
The manufacturer, headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany, offers various powertrain options for this model. VW offers two plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options for the Tiguan with powertrains of 201 hp and 268 hp. The engine will work together with a 19.7 kWh battery which makes the car run on pure electric power for up to 100 km.
Then there is also a mild-hybrid option with a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder engine with a 48V battery as a generator.
For customers who still want to experience a pure combustion engine, the latest Tiguan also has a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder option that pumps out between 201 hp and 262 hp. A turbodiesel option is also available with a 2.0 liter engine producing 148 hp or 190 hp.
Moving inside, VW introduces the latest digital instrument display and infotainment system. The brand brings MIB graphics to the existing Tiguan in the ID.4, ID.5, and ID.7 models. Drivers can choose from a variety of driving modes: Classic, Progressive, Navigation and R-Line. This model also offers various safety features, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Hill Start Assist, Park Distance Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Lane Change Assist.
