The Joint Team Puts Out The Padang Rumput Fire In The Suryakeencana Square Of Mount Gede
The joint team managed to extinguish the fire that had burned 3 hectares of deserts and a number of edelweiss flowers in the Suryakancana Square of Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (TNGGP) after being raging for more than four hours.
Head of the Cianjur TNGGP Center, Sapto Aji Prabowo, said that around 100 people who were members of the team immediately extinguished using makeshift tools, including the ones they wore after wetting water.
"After being raging for more than four hours, on Monday evening at around 18.00 WIB, the fire was finally extinguished by a joint team consisting of TNGGP officers, Polri, volunders, volunteers and environmental activists, using manual tools," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 18.
As a result of the fire, he said there was an edelweiss land that was reported in addition to 3 hectares of Padang land, but his party was still calculating how much was burned.
"Edelweis is on fire, tomorrow it will only be calculated in size," said Sapto.
To anticipate another fire, another team carrying a back pump will cool down along the burning area, so that the fire does not return to light and spread to other areas.
Meanwhile, the temporary suspicion that the cause of the fire was due to natural factors was not due to the negligence of humans or climbers because during the fire there were no climbers in Suryakancana Square.
"Temporary suspicion due to natural factors of hot weather causes dry grass to burn easily," he said.
