PURBALINGGA - Karangmoncol Sector Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Polsek) officer Purbalingga revealed a fraud or embezzlement case committed by a former member of the TNI in Purbalingga Regency, Central Java."The suspect has the initials KS (39), a resident of Karangmoncol, and he is a former member of the TNI," said Karangmoncol Police Chief Iptu Amirudin at the Purbalingga Police Headquarters, Antara, Friday, September 15.The suspect admitted that he was dishonorably dismissed from the TNI service in March 2022 due to desertion.The fraud and/or embezzlement case involving MR began when the suspect came to the victim's house on behalf of Forizky Agustino, a resident of Pepedan Village, Karangmoncol District, on August 18, 2023, at around 13.00 WIB, to borrow a motorbike with the excuse of visiting his son.Because of pity, the victim lent his motorbike on condition that it had to be returned in the afternoon because it would be used.However, until the afternoon, he continued, MR did not return the victim's motorbike."After waiting for how many days, but the motorbike has not been returned, the victim immediately came to MR's house but the person concerned is not at home," said Amirudin.Until finally the victim reported the incident to the Karangmoncol Police, which was followed up with an investigation.MR was finally arrested by officers from the Karangmoncol Police Criminal Investigation Unit when he returned home on Sunday, September 3. During the arrest, officers also secured evidence in the form of an automatic scooter type motorcycle with the number R-5749-NV plate along with the vehicle documents."Based on the results of the investigation, MR admitted that he had pawned the motorbike he borrowed in the amount of Rp. 2.5 million to someone in the Padamara District, Purbalingga, while the money had been used up for online gambling," explained the police chief.Although not a recidivist, he said MR was also known to have committed the same act in the Pengadegan District, Purbalingga.However, the case in Pengadegan was resolved amicably because the motorbike that was borrowed and pawned by MR was then redeemed by the suspect's family.
"Regarding this second case, the suspect was charged with Article 378 subsidiary Article 372 of the Criminal Code with a maximum prison sentence of four years," he said.
