Asked About The Target At The 2023 Asian Games, This Is Indra Sjafri's Surprising Answer
JAKARTA The Indonesian U-24 National Team coach Indra Sjafri did not specify the target when he led his team to compete in the 2022 Asian Games multi-branch event in Hangzhou, China.
Indonesia will start the journey from Group F with North Korea, Taiwan, and Kyrgyzstan. To automatically qualify for the knockout round, Garuda Muda needs to finish at the top two.
"(As for) our target is gradual. We (will) concentrate first in the group (selection) after that we see the results then we will set a new target," said Indra.
To deal with this event, Indra has called 22 players. Of that number, 15 of them have joined, while the rest are still defending the club until Saturday tomorrow.
Therefore, this team must depart in two separate groups. The first is on Saturday, September 16, 00.30 WIB, while the next one will depart on Sunday, September 17 in the morning WIB.
Indra said that all the players who were called would definitely join the team. The clubs whose players are called also want to give up their players for the national team even though it is not the FIFA agenda.
"I am grateful that all clubs want to release their players, including clubs where three of their players have been called," said the 60-year-old tactician.
Garuda Muda troops will start the struggle on Tuesday, September 19. Kyrgyzstan will be the first opponent against Ernando Ari and his friends.
Two days later Indonesia will fight Taiwan. Rizky Ridho and his friends then closed the Group F match against North Korea on September 23.
Later only the top two teams in each group and four third-ranked teams between the six groups will advance to the round of 16.
