Scorching Piles Of 2 Meters Of Waste, Cirebon Luhur Coffee TPA Fire Finally Extinguished

The fire that engulfed the Luhur Coffee Final Disposal Site (TPA) in Cirebon has been successfully extinguished.

"The information is that all conditions have been extinguished, but joint officers continue to carry out cooling so that the coal does not flare up again," said Cirebon City Fire and Rescue Service (DPKP) Head Adam Nuridin in Cirebon, West Java, Sunday, September 10, as reported by Antara.

Adam said that the fire that occurred on Saturday, August 9 afternoon had scorched a pile of two-meter thick waste with an area of 500 square meters from 5.2 hectares.

Currently, joint officers are cooling down the scene to ensure the hotspots do not reappear.

He confirmed that there were no victims in the fire incident, because the location of the Luhur Coffee TPA was quite far from residential areas.

He conveyed that joint officers from across sectors were still on standby near the Luhur Coffee TPA while doing watering at several points.

"There are about seven firefighters and three water cannon units. The number of our personnel deployed is 70 people, with more than 100 other stakeholders. Thank God, all of them have been extinguished. It's just a matter of cooling down, maybe there's still coal," he said.

According to him, the success in extinguishing the fire at the Luhur Coffee TPA could not be separated from the contribution of joint personnel who had been struggling to deal with the fire since Saturday 9 September.

Adam said the blackout process was hampered by the thick smoke that enveloped the scene, but thanks to the alertness of the fire incident officers, it was finally handled.

"It was smoke that made efforts to extinguish the fire was hampered. We previously thought the waste was thick, but it turns out that there is a limit below that. So every two meters are covered in soil," he said.
