Surprise! Serbia Defeats Canada in Race for 2023 FIBA World Cup Final Tickets
JAKARTA - The Serbian Basketball National Team has made it to the FIBA World Cup 2023 final after defeating Canada in the semifinals, Friday, September 8. Taking place at the Mall of Asia Arena, Philippines, Serbia won with a score of 95-86 over Canada.
Since the first quarter, Serbia immediately stepped on the gas to win as many points as possible. Their fast game paid off because Svetislav Pesic's team was able to take a big lead over Canada in the first 10 minutes. Serbia was able to set their score at 21-13.
Entering the final minutes of the first quarter, Canada did not give up and continued to try to catch up. However, Dillons Brooks and colleagues still couldn't find a solution to balance their opponents because they fell behind in the first quarter with a score of 15-23.
Continuing in the second quarter, the game changed for Canada who was able to steal points first. Laguenz Dort scored three points to bring Canada's score to 18-23.
However, Canada's hard efforts did not last long because Serbia still dominated by again providing within points. The competition between the two teams became increasingly fierce with a temporary score of 28-21 and continued to belong to Serbia with a 52-39 advantage in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Serbia's dominance could not be stopped by the Canadian players because they had a temporary lead of 63-56. Canada was still trying to open up opportunities to create as many as three points, but the gap could not be reduced until finally the game was over and Serbia won with a score of 75-63.
This victory which brought Serbia to the final also made them have to prepare better. The reason is that in the deciding round they will face the winner of the match between the United States versus Germany.
