Praveen/Melati's struggle to qualify from the first half was fierce. Appearing at the Olympic Sport Center Gymnasium on Tuesday, September 5, the Indonesian mixed doubles had to go through three games against Chinese representatives Jiang Zheng Bang/Wei Ya Xin.
The opponents that Praveen/Melati faced were quite difficult, considering that Jiang/Wei were the 7th seeded mixed doubles. It is evident from the length of the struggle that Praveen/Melati had to go through through three games.
Even though they had to go through 60 minutes of resistance, Praveen/Melati finally managed to ensure victory with the final score 21-16, 12-21 and 21-16.
This victory will bring Praveen/Melati to the second round by facing representatives of Malaysia, Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing, who previously won over his own country's representatives.
In addition to Praveen/Melati, Shesar Hiren Rhustavito also won in the men's singles number. Shesar advanced to the second round after winning over India's representative, Priyanshu Rajawat.

Unfortunately, their steps were not able to be followed by Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin. The Indonesian men's doubles gave up from the third seed from China, Liang Wei Penghik/Wang Chang, with a score of 15-21 and 18-21.
