Construction of the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train Designed for 100 Years, KCIC Makes Sure it's Safe
JAKARTA - The Jakarta Bandung Fast Train Construction (KCJB) is designed for a service life of up to 100 years. Because of this, PT Kereta Api Indonesia-China (KCIC) ensures that the construction is closely monitored and complies with established standards.
KCIC GM Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa said that every step of the construction carried out had passed testing, checking, and supervision of strict building specifications and standards from various parties.
"During the construction period, every infrastructure development was carried out with full care and multi-layered supervision. This is done so that the Fast Train infrastructure complies with predetermined standards and is safe to use," said Eva in her statement, written on Wednesday, August 30.
In addition to testing and checking involving independent consultants, said Eva, KCIC also collaborated with the Road and Tunnel Road Safety Commission (KKJTJ) of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing to carry out building design tests and the safety and feasibility of bridges and tunnels.
Not only that, Eva said KCIC also involved the Ministry of Transportation to issue permits for operating the Fast Train infrastructure. This is one part of ensuring that all infrastructure is in a safe and proper condition so that it can be operated to serve the community.
"So for the quality of the high-speed train infrastructure, we are not playing around. This layered supervision and testing is one manifestation of our commitment to presenting fast train services that are safe and comfortable. We always try to ensure that everything is of the best quality for the community," she said.
Furthermore, Eva said that every infrastructure completed by the contractor went through a rigorous testing and checking process.

When the construction is complete, continued Eva, a document verification process will be carried out up to checking the physical results and work in the field by an internal team and independent consultants to ensure the standard and quality of the construction carried out.
If the results of the construction are in accordance with the specifications set, then the new development work is handed over and payments are made to the contractor.
"We prioritize good corporate governance. So the work of the new contractor can be handed over and paid for if everything is in order," concluded Eva.
