Tebing Tinggi Police Arrest Car Thief Gang

The Tebing Tinggi Police Criminal Investigation Unit personnel arrested a gang of car thieves who often act in the jurisdiction of Tebing Tinggi, North Sumatra.

The police have arrested three perpetrators of car theft, namely AF (32), H (40) and M (51).

"This gang action was desperate to steal a car with the modus operandi of targeting a low-year car because there was no alarm in the car when the car was forcibly opened. Then the perpetrators also targeted a diesel car because there were more enthusiasts," said Tebing Tinggi Deputy Chief of Police, Kompol Asrul Robert Sembiring, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 28.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tebing Tinggi Police, AKP Junisar Rudianto Silalahi, said that the car theft was uncovered when it was carried out on Jalan Lubuk Attitude, Pelita Village, Babap Kota Tebing Tinggi District over a unit of Isuzu Panther car in 2005 BK 1218 ABC belonging to Ramoti Sagian (35).

Junisar said that on Monday (15/8) at around 19.00 WIB the three perpetrators made an agreement to commit theft and meet at Melati Perbaungan Hospital at 23.00 WIB.

Furthermore, the three perpetrators went to Tebing Tinggi using an operational car, namely one APV car.

"Then at around 03.00 WIB, they arrived at the TKP Jalan Lubuk Attitude and saw an Isuzu Panther car parked in the garage, the perpetrators stopped and immediately carried out the action," he explained.

Because the gate of the victim's house was locked, the gang took iron cutting scissors to cut the lock. Then go inside the garage and open the car door using a flat iron that has been provided.

"The perpetrators pushed the car onto the road and turned it on and then took the car away at the Tebing Tinggi toll gate," he said.

In addition to committing car theft on Jalan Lubuk Attitude, this gang also committed theft in two locations of the Tebing Tinggi Police jurisdiction, namely Jalan Pulau Belitung, Persiakan Village, Padang Hulu District, Tebing Tinggi City, one unit of Daihatsu Taft Blue Year 1992 Nopol BK 1274 XN on Saturday, (22/7).

Then on Jalan Pulau Samosir, Persiakan Village, Padang Hulu District, Tebing Tinggi City, a black Mitsubishi pick-up L300 in 2016 Nopol BK 8240 NF, on Monday (21/8). During the action, the perpetrators admitted that they managed to steal three cars.

"Every car they stole was sold to the Aceh area for Rp. 15 million, they have sold two units and the collectors are still being hunted by the Tebing Tinggi Police Satreskrim officers. Currently, one unit of the victim's Isuzu Panther car and one unit of the perpetrator's APV car have been secured at the Tebing Tinggi Police Headquarters," said Junisar.

Head of Public Relations of the Tebing Tinggi Police, AKP Agus, said that when the perpetrator was arrested, the officers also secured evidence in the form of one iron scissors, one flat iron and one 8 pass key.

"The three perpetrators are subject to Article 363 paragraph (1) to 3e, 4e and 5e from the Criminal Code with the threat of 7 years in prison," said Agus.
