SAR Team Searches 9 Fishermen Lost Contact While Fishing In North Bengkulu Lais Waters
BENGKULU - Bengkulu National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) conducted a search for nine fishermen who had lost contact while at sea since Sunday (27/8) in the waters of Lais, North Bengkulu Regency.
The nine fishermen are JE, DS, EE, DO, ED, ID, EN, EV and IN from Bengkulu Beach or fishermen from Marlborough.
"At 08.10 WIB on Monday, the Bengkulu Basarnas Communication Officer received information that a ship accident had lost contact, estimated in the waters of Lais, North Bengkulu Regency. Hearing this information, we sent a team to the location to search," said Head of the Bengkulu Basarnas Office, Muslikun Sodik, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 28.
There were 20 team members who were dispatched in the search process from Mukomuko Regency, crew members and the Bengkulu Basarnas rescue team.
The chronology of the incident began on 27 August 2023 at 03.00 WIB, the fishing boat with a POB (Person On Board) of nine people departed from Bengkulu Beach (Malabrough) to Lais waters to look for fish at sea.
Then, the ship is estimated at 11.00 WIB to Bengkulu Beach, but until 16.30 WIB the fishing boat did not return.

The family and fishermen around carried out a search from 17.00 WIB to 23.00 WIB but to no avail. The family also reported the incident to the Bengkulu Basarnas.
"In addition to Basarnas, a number of related parties also carried out search processes such as the North Bengkulu Kodim, Bengkulu Lanal, Bengkulu Water Police, Local Government, Fishermen and Victims' Families," he said.
