Elderly In Bogor Trapped In Room Burned Dead

A fire broke out in Gunung Putri, Bogor Regency, West Java. One 54-year-old died in a fire that occurred on Sunday, August 27.

The victim named Mansur is a resident of the house. Mansur was only found dead after the fire was successfully extinguished by firefighters.

Gunung Putri Police Chief Kompol Bayu Tti Nugroho said the fire was discovered when neighbors saw the victim's house on fire at around 03.15 WIB.

The fire emerged from the bathroom of the victim's house. Local residents then contacted the firefighters

"Erna and her husband Agus Rantoro immediately asked for help from residents. Residents had struggled to extinguish the fire but the fire continued to grow, so they asked for help from firefighters," said Bayu, Monday, August 28.

After the fire was successfully extinguished, officers found Mansur's body in the room. It is suspected that at the time of the incident the victim was sleeping.

"As the owner of the house that caught fire, he was found dead. It is suspected that he was trapped in a fire in the room", he said

According to residents, said Bayu, Mansur lived alone in the house. "The victim's body was evacuated and taken to the nearest hospital. Currently, his body has been handed over to his family," he said.

Bayu stated that the fire that killed one person was thought to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.

"To ascertain the cause, we are still continuing to carry out investigations and deepening," he concluded.
