7 Injured After Minibus Enters Abyss In Garut, Evacuation Constrained Equipment
The mini bus entered a 20 meter deep ravine on Jalan Raya Banjarwangi-Singajaya, Garut Regency, West Java, Monday 21 August. The incident left seven people injured.
Head of Banjarwangi Police, Iptu Amirudin Latif, said that after all passengers, the evacuation was carried out on cars with limited equipment and location of the incident away from the highway.
"We evacuated using a tow truck to be pulled up, had faced obstacles because the location of the crash was far away, if the passengers had already been evacuated," said Amirudin in Garut, confiscated by Antara, Monday, August 21.
He said that the Daihatsu Luxio police number G 1636 CK driven by Asep Mimid drove from Cikajang District to Singajaya.
Arriving at the scene, said the police chief, the driver was unable to control the speed of the vehicle, allegedly sleepy so he drove into a ravine in the Punclut Block, Burujul Village, Banjarwangi Village/District, Garut, Monday at around 03.00 WIB.
"The driver is suspected of not controlling the speed of the vehicle, plus the road conditions there are indeed vulnerable, they must be careful," he said.

He conveyed that the incident caused two people to be seriously injured, including the driver, and the other passengers suffered minor injuries.
The victims, he said, were all residents of Singajaya District, some who had survived had been sent home, only those who were seriously injured were still undergoing treatment.
"The driver on behalf of Asep Mimid was seriously injured, and we have now evacuated to the puskesmas," he said.
He conveyed that the southern area of Garut has a road condition that has many bends, inclines, derivatives, and also has a ravine.
He appealed to the public to always be vigilant when riding motorbikes or cars when passing through the route.
"We appeal to the entire community, both 2-wheeled and 4-wheeled drivers, to be careful in driving their vehicles," he said.
