MALUKU - The harbormaster of Amahai Port, Central Maluku informed that the Cantika 88 Express Ship on the Amahai-Tulehu route (Salahutu District) will not operate in the next week, following engine disruptions on the fast boat."Because the engine is damaged, that's why in the next week or two, the ship is not running yet," said Head of the Port Service Unit (UPP) Amahai Abdul Radak in a statement in Ambon, Maluku, Antara, Monday, August 7.Abdul Radak explained that from the report of the crew, the engine disturbance that occurred that caused the engine to shut down because the right side of the propeller of the ship broke into the wood waste.As a result, there are some parts that don't work until the ship has to docking and wait for orders for the equipment to be delivered to be repaired in order to resume operations."All of this is for the safety of passengers who will use this ship," he said.The Cantika 88 Express ship departed from Amahai Harbor for Tulehu on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 08.20 WIT. The ship carrying 131 passengers suffered engine failure on its way from Amahai to Tulehu, Central Maluku and was adrift in the waters of Tanjung Latu.As a result of the incident, passengers were hit by panic. According to him, due to this incident, a number of passengers had been evacuated using the Pricilia Fast Ship from the direction of Tulehu.Meanwhile, after the Cantika 88 Express Ship arrived at Tulehu Harbor, the crew of the ship made a dive to see or check the condition of the ship's steering and after being inspected, it turned out that As propeller right was broken which caused the steering to malfunction.
Previously, the Cantika 88 Express ship operated every day on a schedule from Amahai Harbor to Tulehu in the morning at around 09.00 WIT. Meanwhile, the Tulehu-Amahai route in the afternoon was around 15.00 WIT.
