Allegations Of TNI Intimidation To KPK In The Basarnas Case, Alexander Marwata Says This
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata did not want to talk much about the alleged intimidation carried out by the TNI in the National SAR Agency (Basarnas) bribery case. He just said whatever happened would be recorded.
This was conveyed in response to information on alleged intimidation of the anti-corruption commission after naming the Head of Basarnas Marshal Henri Alfiandi and Koorsmin Basarnas Lt. Col. Afri Budi Cahyanto as suspects.
"Is there pressure from the TNI, yes, I don't say that here. Just a note," Alexander told reporters at a press conference at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, July 31.
Even so, the anti-corruption commission is ready to face intimidation from any party while handling allegations of corruption. They even have a panic button.
"Employees who experience terror just need to press the phone or send a short message," said Alexander. "Later we will have staff who we specifically assign who will receive and immediately move," he said.
"So when there are employees who may experience acts of terror or whatever, related to their work, of course, they just need to press or SMS," continued Alexander.
