IPW Asks Polda Metro Jaya To Professionally Handle Cases Of Persecution By Members Of The Directorate Of Drugs

JAKARTA - Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) has asked that cases of abuse against suspected drug offenders by members of the Metro Jaya Police's Narcotics Directorate be handled professionally and transparently through an accountable process. So, according to IPW, the image of the Police in the community will continue to be maintained.

"IPW asked for an explanation from the Polda Metro Jaya where the body was found? Information received by IPW the body dumped a place to eliminate traces. If it is true that there is an attempt to eliminate traces, then in addition to the article on severe abuse that resulted in death, the obstruction of justice must also be applied to the perpetrators," said the Chairman of Indonesia Police Watch, Sugeng Teguh Santoso to VOI, Monday, July 31.

Sugeng said, that way, people are not afraid and traumatized if there are families detained by the police.

Likewise, the National Police institution must continue to improve its internal affairs so that the National Police remains humane through its precision program.

"By explicitly firing its members who were naughty and committing irregularities. Therefore, in the case of persecution by seven members of the National Police which caused the death of the drug offender, an ethics trial was immediately held with the PTDH decision," he said.

IPW assessed that this decision would greatly fulfill the community's sense of justice, especially the families of the victims who lost their relatives.

Moreover, in the process of investigating, the seven members of the National Police have been named suspects and charged with articles layered with 355 of the Criminal Code, 170 of the Criminal Code, and Article 351 paragraph 1. Article 355 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code states that the serious persecution carried out with the prior plan is punishable by a maximum imprisonment of twelve years. While paragraph 2 reads: If the act resulted in death, the guilty one is threatened with a maximum imprisonment of fifteen years.

While Article 170 reads: (1) Anyone who openly and with joint force uses violence against persons or goods, shall be punished with imprisonment for a maximum of five years and six months. (2) The guilty shall be punished: 1. with a maximum imprisonment of seven years, if he intentionally destroys goods or if the violence used results in injury. 2. with a maximum imprisonment of nine years, if violence results in serious injury. 3. with a maximum imprisonment of twelve years, if violence results in death. Then Article 351 paragraph 3 states, persecution resulting in death and sentenced to a maximum imprisonment of seven years.

"Violence by members of the National Police is a test in the Precision Police program carried by the National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo. In just a matter of days, since the case of Bripda IDF was shot dead by members of the Police, fellow Brimob, members of the National Police have now been exposed to violence against drug offenders," he said.

IPW stated that the arrogant, arrogant, arbitrary behavior using the authority and even violence by these police officers was the same as fighting the efforts of the National Police leadership in reforming the Police.

"Especially in the cultural reform of the National Police," he said.

Polda Metro Jaya has named 7 members of the Directorate of Drug Crimes as suspects in cases of persecution. They were involved in acts of violence against criminals that led to death.

"There are 7 people who have been convicted," said Director of Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Hengki Haryadi, to reporters, Friday, July 28.
