Dozens Of Bhabinkamtibmas Personnel Trained To Handle ODGJ
SUKABUMI - Dozens of Bhabinkamtibmas personnel participated in training on the ability to handle people with mental disorders (ODGJ) and were abandoned at the Sukabumi Police Education and Training Center Officer Formation School (Setukpa Lemdiklat).
"This training program is one of the precision actualizations that must be understood by every National Police personnel, especially bhabinkamtibmas in the elaboration of protection, services and protection to the community," said Head of Setukpa Lemdiklat Polri Brigadier General Mardiaz Kusin Dwihananto as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 27.
The activity was attended by 93 personnel of the Sukabumi City Police Bhankamtibmas together with 72 students of the 52nd batch Police Inspector School (SIP) 2023. Also trained by one of the SIP students, Purnomo, who managed to care for 176 ODGJ at his residence.
Purnomo is one of the SIP students in the 52nd class of the Rahesa Aditya Diandra (RAD) Regiment who graduated with the title of the National Police Chief award being one of the nominees for the 2023 Hoegeng Awards.
According to Mardiaz, the public knows that the police can handle everything, including handling ODGJ even though this ability is not in the Police Vocational Education (Dikjur).
The current ODGJ phenomenon is increasing, therefore Bhabinkamtibmas must appear ahead by utilizing the training provided by Purnomo to be able to take his knowledge and be applied in the field.

Bhabinkamtibmas was also asked to popularize Sukabumi as a Police City, with the hope of realizing a modern Polri storefront at the Sukabumi City Police and as one of the efforts to make it happen, he will build a Police museum.
"Apart from being a police city, let's make Sukabumi female and child friendly and ODGJ friendly," he added.
Purnomo said ODGJ would not be completed if no one could and did not help him.
ODGJ who are neglected is the responsibility of the state, the bhabinkamtibmas as members of the National Police are part of the state, must be present in the midst of community difficulties, including in handling ODGJ.
